The attractive cities of Orvieto and Montepulciano, in southern Tuscany, are within 1 hour, as is Viterbo (30Km) which will be the location of Rome's second airport when Ciampino is closed to low-cost carriers in 2 years' time. The area has many excellent country restaurants and there are therapeutic hot-springs nearby.
